MASTHEAD

The name of our magazine will be called DETAILED. We thought about other option like complexity or mixing our last names together but the detailed was the best for us and represented more what we want our magazine to be like.

In relation to our magazine, for us DETAILED means comprehensive and also represent to a certain extent simplicity but still with a highlight of details and characteristics, both in its appearance and content.

In order to represent minimality in our masthead too, we decided to make it without the vowels and just of consonants. In this way, it can also intrigue you to discover more about what is inside or read through some lines

To create the Masthead, we started by doing drafts of option that could satisfy us. I mostly drew the drafts but we both shared ideas and discussed about how it could be until one of them finally made us content.

After creating the drafts, we scan the sketch we liked and continue the work on Illustrator but it did not convince us so we used a handwritten font and drew some parts by ourself on the computer directly by inspiring ourself from the sketch we had using Illustrator also.

Here are some option we had for the masthead

For the color of the magazine, we wanted to be neutral with some striking accents which we sometimes manage to capture in the photoshoot we have, such as red.

At first we wanted to something more square with DETAILED, written on the side with a handwritten font but we did not liked how it looked.

We thought about varying the color of the masthead depending on the cover but around the same tons, which an aspect of ours too could be implemented

A contrast would be created between the masthead and the rest of the color choice but not a strong one, a minimal style would still be represented and a simple characteristic created. Regarding marketing, the audience would be helped by being able to recognize the magazine.

This was our first trial for the masthead based on the drawings I made for different versions. At the beginning, we thought of using a handwritten font to write DETAILED but it did not convinced us so we used a more technical font.

But the overall of the masthead did not convinced us so we decided to make another version which ended up being our final version of the masthead

Here is our final version, we decided upon this one because we found it more our style and more handwritten style which is what we expected at the beginning.

We will use this version in different colors depending on the cover of the issue.
